Home Energy Assessments

Home Energy Assessments

Take Action on Climate Change

Energy use accounts for over 50% of your household ecological footprint. Our reliance on fossil fuels means the average home in Australian produces 14 tonnes of greenhouse gases per year.

To help picture how much this is, The Australian Greenhouse Office says
1 tonne of carbon dioxide would fill a family home.

With the price of energy rising fast there has never been a better time to act. To reduce household energy use you first need to know where in your home you're using, or losing, the most energy. In 2009 Woollahra, Waverley and Randwick Councils offered its residents a Free Home Energy Assessment and Action Plan.

Trained energy consultants responded to requests from almost 800 households across the region to help them save on energy bills, slash greenhouse gas emissions and ultimately reduce their ecological footprint.

Early indications of the results show that 90% of households in the City’s East have managed to substantially reduce their energy use as a result of our Home Energy Assessment. This program has now been replaced by a national scheme.
